Brief Introduction

Products are the heart of a marketplace and the concern of any seller selling products online. With WCMp you have an effective and efficient product manager that lets you help your vendors handle their products with ease from the vendor’s dashboard. Vendors can upload, edit, preview and track their products. Along with this they can view also view the progress of each product they have added or are yet to add.

Configuring Product Settings 

By configuring the product settings the admin can decide on the product management capabilities he would like to assign to his/her vendor. Along with this he can decide on the types of products that can be sold on his site. 

Let Vendors Add Products

Admin can permit a vendor to add his products online or simply assign products to him. In order to let vendors add new products, an admin must follow these given steps: 

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard and look for WCMp menu
  2. Click on WCMp menu and select the settings submenu
  3. Once the setting page is displayed go to the Capabilities tab (here the admin can provide vendors with some more capabilities. To know more read here)
  4. Tick on the Submit Product option visible under the Product Capability section
  5. Once you have ticked this option don’t forget to save changes by clicking save changes, 
  6. Now your vendors can add new products from their dashboard
  7. Once the new product is added they can click submit and wait for your approval 

Note: With this permission, vendors are only capable of adding new products. In order for the products to be displayed on your site, the products must be published. Keep reading to know how products can be published.

Assign Products to vendors 

 There are times when you want to make some site changes or in case of backlog clearance you want to temporarily suspend all your vendors from adding new products on your site. In special cases like these, you can temporarily take away the vendors capability to add new products and instead assign products to them 

To temporarily stop vendors from adding new product and instead assign products to them

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard and then select WCMp menu, from there go to the setting option 
  2. On the setting, page go to Capabilities Tab and then untick the submit product option (now your vendors can no longer add product from their dashboard)
  3. Once you have suspended the vendor’s ability to add products, you can go to WordPress Dashboard and then the Products menu (you can either assign the vendor an existing product  or assign him a new one)
  4. In the case of assigning vendors an existing product click on All Products sub-menu and then choose the product you want to assign the vendor Or select Add New on the all products page
  5. Fill in details using WooCommerce guidelines
  6. In the product data meta box, go to the Vendors Tab 
  7. In the Vendors field, search and select the vendor whom you want to assign this product to. 
  8. Here you can also add in a product commission amount (to know more on how to add product commissions read here.)

Approve Submitted Products

 A classic new addition has been made with the release of WCMp3.5 version. You can now communicate with your vendors in the form of product notes. A product note lets admin notify vendors about why they would like to reject or dismiss a product. Once the vendor is informed he can then make certain changes to the product and re-send it to the admin for reviewing and approval. Another added benefit is that while seeking the admin’s approval the vendor can also communicate with the admin regarding the specifics of the product, through product notes. 

To approve products submitted by vendors

 In order to approve or dismiss a product added by the vendor

  • Go to the admin’s dashboard and then select the WCMp menu, from there go to the To-Do list submenu and press select.
  • Once the to-do list page opens, you can see the products awaiting your approval.
  • Here you can either edit and publish the vendor’s product which concludes as the product is being approved or you can dismiss the product by stating a reason. 
  • In case, the product has dismissed the reason stated by you will be seen by the vendors in the form of a product note
  • The vendor can then add a note of his own which you can view when you edit the product.
  • Once the product meets your specifications you can then select publish and add the product to your site

Hopefully, this little addition will help establish better communication between the vendor and the admin.

Publish Products 

As discussed previously with the submit product option vendors can just add new products not display them. In order to display the product on your site, the product has to be published. 

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard and then click in the WCMp menu 
  2. Scroll down to settings submenu and then click on the Capabilities tab found on the settings page.
  3. Tick on Publish Product option visible under the product capability section. 
  4. Vendors can now publish their products from their dashboard directly

Alternatively, you can keep strict vigilance on the product being sold on your site. Vendors would have to seek your permission before a product can be published. To do so, simply leave the publish product option unchecked.  This way you can edit the product like adding a product commission or checking for errors etc. Once you are satisfied you can publish it.

Edit Product 

Sometimes there can be an upgrade to an existing product and the vendor wants to edit details. You can help the vendor out by permitting him to edit his product. 

  1. Go to Admin Dashboard and navigate to WCMp menu option, from there select the setting submenu option 
  2. On the setting page, go to the Capabilities tab
  3. Under the product capability section tick edit products
  4. Now the vendor can edit a published product.

In case, you want to stop your vendors from editing a published product and leave the edit product option unmarked.

Allow Multiple Vendors to Sell the same product  

Now that you have figured out the basics of how you can let vendors add their products to your site WCMp offer you a new feature.This feature lets you allow multiple vendors to sell the same product. To put it simply Product X can be sold by Vendor A, Vendor B and Vendor C. Let us go through the stages together to make you understand this concept better.

Setting up the SPMV feature

To avail the Single Product Multi-Vendor feature 

  • Go to the admin dashboard and select WCMp menu, from there navigate to the setting (you can skip these steps in case you have ticked the SPMV feature in the setup wizard)
  • In the general section of the General Tab, you will find an option called the SPMV 
  • Tick on this option to let multiple vendors sell the same product on your site.
  • Select save the change and there you have it. 

Note : Customers will be able to view the offers made on the same product by multiple vendors on the site frontend when they select the More Offers menu option. 

SPMV is a special feature that allows many vendors to sell the same product as seen in a physical shop. But unlike physical stores, a site has certain restrictions. When customers buy a product, they buy it after viewing the product and when he selects the said product it takes him to a single product page showcasing all the product features. So the question which is the first offer they view? The answer to that can actually be decided by you instead of some random arrangement. You can choose which offer from which vendor would be displayed in the shop to showcase the SMPV product. Let’s take a look at how you can do that. 

  • Go to the admin dashboard and select WCMp menu, from there navigate to the setting
  • In the general section of the General Tab, you will find an option called the show SPMV products
  • Choose the product offer displayed on the basis of Maximum price, minimum price and top seller
  • Depending on the option you have selected for example maximum price. So when a customer shops on your site and buys the product that has multiple sellers, the product that would appear on the screen would be the product with the maximum price. It is when he clicks on that product will and goes to more offers will he be able to see other prices offered by other vendors for the same product.

How to assign the same product to multiple vendors 

To assign the same product to multiple vendors you can –

  • Go to Admin dashboard from there navigate to add products submenu found under the product menu 
  • Once the new product page loads on the product title field type the name of the product
  • Once you type the product name suggestions will appear, select the name of the product you want your vendors to sell
  • Once the product name is selected you will find that the product details are already filled (you choose to edit the details or leave it as it is)
  • You would then have to go to the product data meta box and select the vendor’s tab 
  • Select the name of the vendor you wish to assign the product 
  • Once selected click on the publish button

Product Types

You can be the one to choose the kind of products your vendors can sell. Vendors, in general, can sell any type of product they want but if you install our super-useful Advanced Frontend Manager you can add in certain restrictions. For example, you can stop vendors from accessing the site backend and only use the site frontend. You can also tick on the product type they can access from the frontend. Isn’t that cool!!

The product types, a vendor can upload from his frontend dashboard are simple products, virtual products and downloadable products but if you install our WCMp Advanced Frontend Manager, the vendors will be able to upload any product types from the frontend. 

View Product List 

You can view the list of products being sold on your site and that too with the name of the vendor selling them. Follow these instructions to see how you can keep track of the products being sold on your site. 

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard and then navigate to the Products menu
  2. Select All Products sub menu 
  3. On the All Products page, you will be able to view
    1. Name: that is the name of the product
    2.  SKU: the internal SKU number
    3. GTIN:  a globally unique identification number that makes sure a product is not lost in the supply chain
    4. Stock: whether the product is in stock or not 
    5. Price: the cost of the product set by the vendor
    6. Category: the category under which the product belongs 
    7. Featured: A star sign symbolizing products that are special or unique to a vendor’s shop.
    8. Date: the date of publication
    9. Vendor: the name of the vendor selling that particular product

Uploading Products from Vendors Dashboard

Vendors can upload or add new products to the site from the vendor dashboard. Apart from this can add select product categories, product types and many other features.

Add New Product 

Let’s take a step by step look at how a vendor would add a simple product.

  1. Go to the Vendors Dashboard and then navigate to products from there select add product or directly add a product by going to the Add product link found on the top of the vendor’s dashboard.
  2. You would be directed to an Add New Product page 
  3. Field found in this page are:
    1. Product Title- Fill in the name of your product or what you would like to call it.
    2. GTIN: A drop-down menu will appear where you can choose the GTIN type and then add the GTIN Code.
      1. UPC: Universal Product Code or UPC is a barcode symbology used to track trade items in store.
      2. EAN: European article number or EAN is a barcode symbology and numbering system used in global trade to identify a specific retail product type, in a specific packaging configuration, from a specific manufacturer
      3. ISBN: The International Standard Book Number is a numeric commercial book identifier which helps keep track of books.
      4. MPUIN: a rarely used product identification identifier
    3. Add Image: Vendor can add product display image and product gallery images  
    4. Short Product Description: Add bulletins to explain the product
    5. Long Product Description: Describe the product in detail
    6. Product Type: If the admin has not installed Advanced frontend Manager the only type option available would be a simple product
      1. General Tab: here the vendor can add the price of the product or a sale price along with the duration of the sale
      2. Inventory tab: this tab stock details like SKU number, how to manage stock (i.e stock quantity, allowance for backorders etc) and whether a product can be sold individually or not.
      3. Shipping Tab: Shipping details like weight and dimensions of a product and the shipping class (Shipping classes are used by certain shipping methods to group similar products.)
      4. Linked Products Tab: Using up-sells and cross-sells, you can cross-promote products
      5. Attributes Tab: Vendors can add product attributes like colour size etc
      6. Advanced Tab: here a vendor can add purchase note, menu order (Custom ordering position for this item) and enable reviews for the product.
      7. Policies Tab: Vendors can add shipping, refund and cancellation policies regarding the product. 
    7. Product Tags: Product Tags can be added here.
    8. Product Category: Vendors can choose or create new product categories for their products.
    9. Product Note: A new addition included in our 3.5 version. Vendors can now view comments or suggestions made by the admin regarding a product. Along with this, they can add a little note of their own which can be viewed by the admin when editing a product.
  4. Once the following fields are filled and adjustments are made, the vendor can either submit the product and wait for your approval or directly publish it on his own.     

Sell the same Products as other vendors    

With the help of SPMV features that we have discussed before vendors can sell products by other vendors from their own dashboard. To see how this is possible take a glance at these instructions.  

  • Go to the Vendor’s Dashboard from there navigate to Add Products lick found on the dashboard top 
  • Once selected a List New Product search field is displayed
  • The vendor can search the name of the product here
  • Once he finds the product he is looking for he can simply click on the Sell Yours button 
  • Sell Yours will redirect vendors to the Add Product Details page. The add product page will be populated with data already filled in during the previous product submission. They can also make changes.
  • Finally, they can either submit or publish the product.

Product Log

A product log helps vendor keep track of all his products irrespective of of their completion status. A vendor can also take necessary actions like deleting, editing, previewing or duplicating a product, when required. 

View Product list

In order to view the list of products the vendor should:  

  1. Go to Vendors Dashboard and select Product Manager menu
  2. Then select all products submenu
  3. On the all products page, the vendor will be able to view
    1. Name: that is the name of the product
    2. Price: the cost of the product set by the vendor
    3. Stock: whether the product is in stock or not 
    4. Category: the category under which the product belongs 
    5. Date: the date of publication
    6. Status: Product status like published, pending waiting for the admin’s approval or drafted 
    7. Actions: Like viewing the product on the shop site, editing or deleting the product.
